Worum es geht

Five calibrated cards. Treat one alongside the item, keep it, and drop water on it every few weeks. When the beading on the card collapses, the treatment on the item has reached the end of its service life too. This is the honest alternative to a marketing number: measure it yourself on your item, in your conditions.

Anwendung Schritt für Schritt

1Treat one card at the same time and in the same way as the item.
2Label the card with the date.
3Every 2–3 weeks, place a water drop on the card and watch it.
4A drop that beads and holds its shape means the finish is intact.
5A drop that spreads or soaks in means it is time to reapply.

Was es nicht leistet

The card indicates the condition of the film on the card. An item that sees heavier abrasion than the card will lose its finish sooner, so treat the reading as an upper bound.
